Well… Happy Mardis Gras Yall…. Late winter days like these remind me of Mardis Gras time in Louisiana. It was a time to have fun with family and friends, and you knew that Spring was near.
Spring is near here on Lake Taneycomo, and we’re enjoying some of the best fishing, that many have ever had in Branson. I always tell my kids “never wish a day away” but we do look forward to Spring, and the way it makes our Lake, come alive !
For the past several weeks, many have jumped into trout jigs with both feet. It has paid off. White the closer you get to Table Rock Dam, and Olive or Cinnamon the closer you get down to Monkey Island. Trolling with a Silver Buoyant Spoon, or throwing Little Cleos GNR color, lures are still netting some good quality fish.
Powerbaits in Orange/Yellow or Orange/Green were working best on Friday, along with Nightcrawlers.
Bass fishing in the creeks on Minnows, or Jigs is doing well right now, and with the water flowing you have plenty of water to get into them by boat.
Whatever your method, the next pretty day you see, grab a kid and bring them fishing.
Have a great day on the lake.
P.S. We now carry the full line of Swimming Minnows (I’m talking the artificial) but we have the live ones too.

Rainbows in the creeks too…. Much to my surprise, I pulled off Business 65 in Hollister to watch several fly guys (fishermen) applying their talents in Turkey Creek between the two bridges. The water was relatively clear and only thigh high but they were catching them regularly. No bigguns but still creek rainbows. A good place for beginners to try fly casting when the conditions are right. Summertime brings less depth to that area and the fish don`t go that far up the creek. Alot of folks prefer to fish for suckers in Turkey Creek… deep frying them. Good luck to all on Tanneycomo, there certainly has been some quality fish taken out, even during Februarys fast moving water. Hope to see you Lamar on our next trip down… its always a pleasure.
