June Fishing

June 11th, 2012 by Lamar Patton

So far we’ve had a great June of fishing !!!!   We just got done this weekend with the group from Vanguard Companies, we enjoy their corporate outing every year…and this year we fished 73 folks !!!  The kids and I had plenty of helpers and a big thank you to them.

The water is about as clear for the last few months as we’ve ever seen it.  We’ve had to use as light of line as possible, and we’ve even used some smaller jigs and such to compensate for the ability of the trout to see EVERYTHING..

Stop in the shop, and see us. We’ll show you what we’re up to…

Have a great and safe day on the lake

Summer is ON !

June 4th, 2012 by Lamar Patton

Well.. it’s that time of year again. Summer is here, and we’ve already enjoyed some great family fishing. Powerbait/Gulp has been working very well, and if we’ve got kids fishing, or first time adults…we usually recommend drifting this off the bottom. We see great fish from lures as well.. and will be glad to help you with the lures that fit the style of fishing you like to do.

Our pontoons remain our most popular family fishing activity, but we have a lot of folks that just like to cruise and enjoy the cool air of the lake, as well as the great Ozark scenery… whichever you prefer… give us a call and we’ll reserve one for you.

Come see us soon….

April Fishing

April 16th, 2012 by Lamar Patton

Well..we have caught some of the nicest fish I can remember in the last few weeks. It kicked off right before Good Friday and continues to be AWESOME
Water generation has slowed to One Generator most of the time..and a little more in the afternoons.

Berkley Gulp in Pink/Yellow or Orange/Yellow is working well. In lures..anything you have that’s small, but the Rooster Tails, Thomas Spoons, and Jigs continue to work very well.
Don’t hesitate to come on down, and have a great day on the lake.

April Fishing

April 2nd, 2012 by Lamar Patton

Well we certainly are enjoying the nice weather we’ve had for the last month. Fishing has been good. We are still generating 4 generators 24/7 for now, but with Table Rock near pool level, I expect that to slow soon.
Jigs are doing well, olive/tan/red and black are our two best right now. Gold/Red Thomas or even the Silver, Silver Blackflash or redflash are working will too. Powerbait, we’ve seen white, yellow orange and pink doing well. Sometimes combined, sometimes just single color.
Been catching nice 13-14″ browns for the last several months. Had several Smallmouth and largemouth bass caught last week. Suckers are still scarce in the main lake, probably more prominent in the creeks.
Crappie seemed to shut down two weeks ago after the rain, but reports this am are they’re picking back up. The bigger males are off the banks no tellin where you’ll find them.
Make plans to come see us soon

Spring Fishing…

March 18th, 2012 by Lamar Patton

We’ve been enjoying the milder than usual weather, as much as the fishing so far. Trout fishing has been very good as of late. MDC has supported the lake with above average trout, in addition to a great number of Brown Trout. I can’t say one thing in particular is working, you will need to be persistant and make sure that you have the bases covered on lures, and bait to ensure a successful trip. Spoons in Silver, Red Flash, Black flash and Red/Gold have worked well. Rapala CD 5 or 7 in Rainbow, Brown or Gold/Black Color,
Powerbait or Gulp in the usual Pink/White or Orange/Yellow combination seem to be some of the more popular combinations. In Jigs the Olive/Ginger/Red and the Black.
I’ve included a picture of a nice 7.5# Rainbow that was caught by Walter, of Florissant MO last weekend. It was good enough to win the tournament, and the big fish prize. He was fishing Powerbait on one of our Hillbilly Hand-Tied Drift Rigs… Good for all that he chose to release it after measuring and photographing it.
Don’t forget, all Missouri Licenses expired at the end of February, so don’t forget to renew yours, before fishing.

Winter FIshing Fun

February 11th, 2012 by Lamar Patton

With and exceptionally mild winter, the fishing on Lake Taneycomo continues to be excellent. Lures and Jigs working better in afternoons, when generation patterns are lighter. Olive/Tan, or Black/Brown are working the best, 1/8oz is what we’re doing the best on in the deeper water. Spoons are working well all day, you might want to use a 1/4oz when generation is heavy, and back to the 1/6oz when lighter. Powerbaits all day, on a 1/4 or 3/16th oz drift rig. If you have Orange, Pink, White and Yellow .. should cover the spectrum. We are also doing very well with the Gulp Bubble Gum Trout worms… stop by and get a pack to try if you never have… they are a blast to fish either wacky style or threaded up a hook. No matter what your choice, get to the lake, and get fishing… Come see us soon.

Let’s call it fall fishing…

September 20th, 2011 by Lamar Patton

I don’t know if we’re quite ready to say it’s fall yet… but the temps lately have all of us here in the Ozarks of Missouri thinkin Fall. Fishing has been very good for the last few days. Several things are proving successful. Gulp alive came out with an artificial night crawler that looks awesome, and stinks. We can’t hardly keep them.. they’ve been working well. Mikes or Atlas Big Red salmon eggs are working well with a powerbait egg to hold on to it. The oil packed eggs leave a great scent trail for the trout. Night Crawelers have been hot for 2 months now.
Lures that are working are Gold/Orange Little Cleos, Gold Red Thomas Spoons or a Nickel/Blue Cleo. Trout Magnets in Pink or Orange/Yellow.
Jigs, Olive/ Tan White or Black/Brown should all do good. We’ve been doing better with the lighter weights with water slow..16th or even 32nd oz.

Stop in and see Falcon Rods are in stock as well as a great selection of medium priced quality combos.

Summer fishing FUN

June 15th, 2011 by Lamar Patton

We’re off to a great fishing summer so far. We’ve had lots of families enjoying the Rainbow Trout on Lake Taneycomo. We’re seeing less than normal generation flows, so the water is quite calm, and you won’t have to go far to get on the trout.
Red/Gold Thomas Spoons, Gulp in Pink and White or Yellow Combination or night crawlers are what’s working best.
Hot Spots are the 65 Bridges, the power lines above Monkey Island and the drift from the bridges down to Coon Creek.
Check us out on Facebook..we’re able to update it during the day for recent photos and news.
