The dog days…… some relief in sight

Well…no doubt it’s been hot here this week. Once the fog burns off in the morning, which some days has been as late as 11:00, it starts heating up. Today the fog was minimal, and not as hot as it has been, and seems that pattern will hold for the next few days.

All that being said, the fish are still biting great. They are a lot more tolerable than we are, but the drift has been working well. We’re seeing some water cutoff at night the last 2 nights, and that’s made the early morning lure fishing better with them holding so high. Don’t know about y’all, but I’m ready for some good jiggin water.

Come see us when you can, we’re booking up now for fall weekends, so if you’re not here, make your plans for October and November.

Have a great day fishing…..

That’s the news for this week. All reports from the Lake are that fishing is Good !!!! The trout being caught seem to be “bigger” than usual stockers, and catch quantity seems to have increased in the last week or so. Whatever the reason, don’t hesitate to get down here, and enjoy the beautiful Lake Taneycomo, and the trout fishing that we offer.

In the Bait/Tackle shop our new item this week is an ABU Garcia Cardinal 300 combo, that has a 7 ball bearing reel, with an IM7 graphite rod. It’s smooth and sensitive for $59.95

Come in and see us soon, and get what  you need to Take a Kid fishing……

P.S. Thanks for all the gang that helped out this week while I was back in Louisiana.. you know who you are and you’re the best….. LP

Fishing this week…we’re not complaining

I must say this has been one of the best week overall for fishing that I’ve seen this summer. No matter the experience level, our first timers and our seasoned veterans are all pleased with the fish they’ve been catching.

That being said, the lake is still running 4 most everyday. I hope to see us slow up some now that we are back in 925 water on Table Rock, but I wouldn’t count on it. We’ve really got to get that lake down a little more so that everyone can get back to all the ramps and Marinas.

Our bait wholesaler tells me we’re selling way more bait and tackle than last year, so we appreciate all the visitors and the local folks who support our little famly business. Our selection in the bait shop is awesome, and we’ll get you just about anything you want, if you’ll give us a little time to order it.

Our ABU Garcia reels are a hit. I don’t know where you can get a 7 ball bearing reel, and an IM7 Graphite rod, for $49.95. We are selling tons of them, and if you haven’t stopped by to look at them, do so.

Have a great day fishing……

Weekend Fishing

July 13th, 2008 by lamar
Respond

We’ve had some good fishing this weekend. Seems as though some have had to work a little harder, but good results yesterday with the spinners and lures from Cooper Creek Access down to just below the island. Fishing the structure on the “downstream” side has proven to be holding fish.

As always, patience and persistence will pay off.

We got a good Thunderstorm last night, should be clear sailing for the next few days with low humidity and little parcipitation.

Come on down and see us soon….

Great Holiday.. Great times

We had a great Fourth of July Holiday. Plenty of families down having a good time on the lake. We had some great fishing. We’re still enjoying catching some of the 81000 trout that Missouri Dept. of Conservation stocked in Lake Taneycomo last week.

Drift fishing seems to be working the best, since we’re still seeing 4 generators running most of the day. We’ve got some good anchor holes, ask us about them when you’re in.

Everyday is a great day to take a kid fishing…

Wow .. what a rain.. But all is normal now

June 29th, 2008 by lamar

Well we had a 6″ Rain overnight Saturday that caused a lot of runoff water out of the creeks. We had to evacuate the campground and ourselves.. but all is well now. We did see some docks come out of Turkey Creek and there is quite a bit of debris from Turkey and Roark on the lake. Table Rock has jumped to 927.5 this am… and we’re going to watch that the next few days to see if we’re going to have to spillway any. Three days of drying out will help…. so check back with us. We have a link to the Corps of Engineers site so you can just click on that to check where we are at. 931 is the number we will have to open gates at. Let’s go fishing !!!!!!!!

Fishing is great !!!

We’ve finally rounded the bend from the spring rains and the fishing is GREAT on Taneycomo. MDC is scheduled to release 81,500 trout this month, so grab your gear, and get some !!

Bubble Gum (the original) Powerbait Eggs are doing great, as well as Cleos and any spinners….I have really done well with the Thomas E P Spinner in the gold. If you want a challenge, and haven’t tried it yet, jig fishing can be a lot of FUN. The Olive / Ginger Maribou that we have tied for our shop have done well, along wih the White and the Pink.

Our Boat Rentals are a great way to find the fish and see the lake and to enjoy the beauty of the White River System. One group Saturday spotted 7 Bald Eagles on their morning trip out !!!!

Give us a call if we can help you with a Fishing Guide, a Boat or just the right tackle and gear.

We know carry a full line of Live Bait, including Crickets, Minnows, Red Wigglers and Crawfish.

June 6, 2008 Fishing Report

June 6th, 2008 by lamar
Respond

Water is running daily to the tune of 3 to 4 generators all day long. Fishing is good, and will require your fishing skills to be successful.
Missouri Dept of Conservation stocked 67,000 fish in May, so there’s no shortage of fish to be caught.

Getting in natural and manmade current breaks seems to be one of the most productive ways to catch fish. Night Crawlers are starting a very good bite.
We’ve got some “Special Run” Power Bait colors that are doing great, so make sure you stop by the bait shop and pickup what’s working.

Have a great week, and come see us soon.
